In order to update your Escort 9500ix you need to connect your radar detector to your computer using a
USB cable and apply power to the radar detector. Since the USB port on your computer does not contain enough power to power your detector you need to either update the 9500ix using a laptop inside your vehicle or you can use this power adapter and
usb cable to update your 9500ix on your home computer.
This is a must have accessory for your Escort 9500ix if you do not have a laptop to connect your detector to for monthly updates.
