For a detector it las a large 1.5" LCD Display which is easy to see. As with the Cobra XRS-9960G it offers full band protection and also offers Cobra's GPS Locator which ebables the 9970G to warn you against verified Speed and Red Light Camera locations, dangerous intersections, and reported Speed Trap locations for entire United States and Canada. Below is a listing of all the current cobra radar detector models and a brief summary of the important differences.

1. XRS-9345
2. XRS-9445
3. XRS-9545
4. XRS-9645
5. XRS-9745
6. XRS-9845
7. XRS-9945
8. XRS-9955
9. XRS-9960G
10. XRS-R8
11. XRS-R10G

So there are quite a bunch of different sku's but here all all that you need to know. The XRS-9345 --> XRS-9545 are the same with some feature differences.

XRS-9345 - Base Model (LED Display)
XRS-9445 - Same as XRS-9345 but adds Voice Alerts
XRS-9545 - Same as XRS-9445 but adds a better TEXT display

Now the next set of models XRS-9645 --> XRS-9960G are also basically the same as each other with the exception of features and displays. All these units use a different antenna than the lower end models so the performance is better which will give you more time to react.

XRS-9645 - Base Model - (Text Display)
XRS-9745 - Same as XRS-9645 but adds Voice Alerts
XRS-9845 - Same as XRS-9745 but includes a LCD Blue Graphic Display and it can connect to the optional Cobra GPS locator for Red Light and Fixed Camera protection.
XRS-9945 - Same as XRS-9845 but includes a MULTI COLOR Graphic Display
XRS-9955 - Same as XRS-9945 but includes a LARGER LCD Multi Color Graphic Display
XRS-9960G - Same as XRS-9955 but it includes the GPS Locator for Red Light and Fixed Camera protection.

XRS-R8 & XRS-R10G are basically the same as the XRS-9955 & XRS9960G but they are not windshield mounted units, The XRS-R8 + XRS-R10G come with 2 components. The main component gets mounted on the top of your windshield next to your rear view mirror. This component is basically the control module and the radar and laser sensors.

They come with a wireless remote control that can be mounted anywhere for menu controls and alert displays.

XRS-R8 does not come with the GPS Locator for red light and fixed camera protection while the XRS-R10G includes the GPS Locator. That is the only difference between these two models.

As always if you have any other questions please feel free to contact us at 1-888-229-7594 or by email at sales @ BestRadarDetectors.net

PNI Sensoro Steel Eye RW3100 Cordless Radar Detector

We acquired a large shipment of the PNI Sensoro RW3100 Steel Eye radar detectors which retailed at $169.95, We have them on special for only $69.95 while supplies last.

The PNI RW3100 was the first and one of the very few current cordless radar detectors with the capability to detect the newer POP mode radar guns. The RW3100 operates on 2 rechargeable AA Batteries or the included power cord. Battery charger is also included so you do not need to keep buying batteries for this unit.

Getting a detector for $69.95 that is cordless and can also detect POP radar is unheard of at this price. The XRS-R10G is relatively the same as the windshield mounted model the Cobra XRS-9960G. It uses the same antenna and offers the same performance but the Cobra XRS-R10G is more of a stealth installation.

As you can see in the picture above the Cobra XRSR10G is a 2 part unit. The main unit gets hard wired next to your rear view mirror (Hard wire kit comes with the unit) and the remote control unit with the display can be put anywhere in your vehicle. The remote control unit uses a lithium battery so it can go some time before needing to be charged.

If you want the features of the Cobra XRS9960G (Radar Detector + Red Light & Fixed Camera Protection) but want it to be more stealth and not sitting on your windshield than the Cobra XRS-R10G might be the unit for you. At $299.95 it really has no competition in the price range with the features that it offers with the included GPS Locator.

Updating the GPS database is a snap and took us less than 5 minutes to install the software and update the GPS Locator by just connecting the GPS locator to our computers USB Port.

Cobra XRS-9960G Radar Detector

We have been testing the Cobra XRS-9960G radar detector for a few weeks now and I can say its definately a decent unit for its current selling price of $259.95. The number one question we hear from people is why when they ordered a Cobra XRS-9960G did they receive a Cobra XRS-9955 in the box?

Ok, Here is the deal. The Cobra XRS-9960G is actually a bundle sku which contains the Cobra XRS-9955 and the RDA GPSL55 GPS Locator. The huge benefit of buying the XRS-9960G over the individual components is that when you buy the XRS-9960G it is also bundled with a Lifetime Subscription to the AURA Database for Verified Speed and Red Light Camera locations for the entire United States and Canada.

If you purchase the XRS-9955 & the RDA GPSL55 GPS Locator separately it will not only cost you more to buy the two items but you also have to pay to access the AURA database to get updates.

So if looking for a radar detector under $300 and need red light camera protection definately take a good look at the XRS-9960G bundle! The Whistler XTR-695's are finally here. Over the past year whistler has been trying to improve their detectors with some re-engineering and its working. We now rate the Whistler's top 3 detectors (XTR-690, Pro-78 and new Whistler XTR-695) as our top picks under $200.

The Whistler XTR-695 adds some cool features:

1. Selective Multi Color Display... This is a neat feature and not only can you change the display colors to better match your car interior but you can select certain colors for different bands. If you want X band alert to display in Blue and a KA to alert it red its up to you and there are 7 colors to choose from.

2. Ka Band & Laser Signature Id - During a laser alert the Whistler XTR-695 will display the pulse rate of the laser gun being used. You will have the capabilty to block certain pulse rates which is especially useful if you have ever travelled past an airport and experienced the constant false laser alerts that are caused from some of the airport tracking equipment.

More info will come as we play with this new detector and we will do a full review after a month or so.

Cathing up on the blog...

Sorry, we forget to update the blog to keep everyone updated on the monthly detector giveaway results. This is creating many issues for us and it is making this giveaway very difficult to maintain. Contacting winners have been a very difficult task since we have been having issues with ISP's automatically blocking our emails as spam. Once we choose a winner we email them and they have 7 days to respond to claim the prize. If we do not receive a response we have to choose another winner and it becomes time consuming.

Why are we having this issue? There are many folks that are not happy with just entering themselves into the giveaway, They are entering all their friends and families email addresses as well. When their friends and family receive the confirmation email that we send out they report our emails as spam since they did not sign up to receive anything from us... This causes the ISP's to mark our emails as spam and folks that did sign up might not get a winning notification because of this.

From this point forward only one email address is allowed per IP address. If the same IP address submits multiple email addresses ALL email address will be voided and none will be entered into the give away.

It took almost 3 weeks to find a winner for Decembers drawing. The winner of the Beltronics RX65 was Michael Rubinstein from TN. For January we have already choosen 2 winners and both with receive Cobra 9930 Radar Detectors. As soon as we receive a reply from the 2 winners which were emailed we will post their information.

October & November Winners

Sorry for the late post, We were very busy during the holidays and things are finally calming down. The Traveller II's were discontinued last year when PNI Corp decided that they no longer wanted to be in the radar detector business. At that time we ran many backorders while we searched distribution to try and find any distributors that might have any stock leftover before we had to cancel the backorders.

Good news is that Q3I Innovations LLC took over PNI's radar detector line and the Traveller II's as well as other familiar detectors such as the Silver Bullets are back. What sets this manufacture apart from the other manufactures is that they only produce cordless radar detectors. Most of the time do to power issues the perfomance on cordless detectors suffer but their detectors still manage to perform well on battery power.

If you are looking for a cordless detector they are definately worth a look. These two new detectors offer equal performace to their current top of the line windshield mounted radar detectors. The XRS-R7 & XRS-9RG are the same exact unit except the XRS-9RG adds a GPS antenna which allows the unit to alert you to red light / speed camera's using a free database of compliled data that Cobra provides for free.

These units are not like standard cordless radar detectors that just run off of AA Batteries or Rechargable batteries. These units have a main radar detector unit that needs to be hard wired into your electrical system using an included hard wire kit.

The wireless portion of this detector is the Intellilink Remote Display unit which looks like a small remote control with a graphic LCD display. This wireless remote offers the controls and the screen to display the radar detectors information.

We have been testing this unit and it appears to be a decent detector for its price. if you live in an area where red light cameras are popping up all over the place and want some notification of these locations the XRS-9RG might do the trick. What we do like is that Cobra offers this camera data for free unlike many companies that charge fee's to get these updates. Updating the GPS unit took only a few seconds with a quick download from Cobra's website.

As we do more testing we will post more information. We currently have this unit installed in one of our vehicles and after some time we will report back our findings. If you are not a handy person and do not want to pay for an installation since it does need to be hard wired into your electricial system, but want the GPS functions you might want to look at the Escort 9500i windshield mounted detector. It is priced higher but does offer better radar performance.

September Monthy Giveaway

Within the next week or so we will be selecting the winners for our monthy giveaway.
