Uniden R1 Extreme Range Radar & Laser Detector

For many years the Escort Redline has been considered the King. It was the benchmark that all other radar detectors were compared against because its long range performance was unparallelled. With the release of the new digital Uniden detectors, the King has been dethroned. In its place sits the new R1 and R3 (same thing but with GPS). The R1 offers even longer range (which blew our minds so we tested this over and over and over with multiple detectors, multiple courses, multiple radar guns, multiple locations, etc. to verify it was indeed the case) and sure enough, range is comparable with an M3 when course limited or even better when the terrain allows. Incredible! Not only that, but the BSM filtering is much more effective which means the detector is actually usable on K band as well. To top it off, it's also RDD immune in practice like the Redline and the price is lower too. Shortly after this detector was released, the Redline was discontinued and the used market has tanked on the Redlines too because everyone is now switching over to the R1 for the long range needs. If you're looking for the longest range top performing radar detector on the market and you don't need GPS functionality, look no further. Get an R1. This thing is a monster...

I've had the R1 for about a week now, made a 200 miles-each-way trip with it alongside an Escort Redline. Uniden R1 beat the Redline in nearly every alert. I've tested it extensively on a test course with very low signal level, challenging detection. R1 beats every other high end detector I've tested (over a span of 8 years). The price/performance ratio is also compelling. Small size, simple to program and nice visuals. This will be my new 'recommended' radar detector.

I have been riding with this detector now for a couple of weeks and can say it is quieter than my redline and the range is second to none. Tests have shown that it is the best protection that you can buy at this time. I now use this detector exclusively and my redline and other detectors are gathering dust. I would recommend the detector to everyone.

Ex-Redline owner here, great radar, will definitely need to get used to the tones, the band call out voice could be louder.

I've had my R1 for less than a week and it's already proved itself to be amazing. You can beat the price for such an amazing RD. Outstanding filtering and HUGE range. Setting it up for your personal preferences based on where you drive is really easy. I'm pretty sure I picked up Ka in a different time zone! BRD has the best price and is always there if you need help. Highly recommend both the R1 and BRD!
