Uniden R7 Extreme Range Radar & Laser Detector

This is the radar detector that I have waited a long time for. I am a early pre-order purchaser of both the R3 and now the R7. The R7 has exceeded the performance of my R3 unit in terms of detection range and the arrows are so incredibly useful. Living in Idaho, K band is not a threat for me and most of my driving is highway. Due to this, the detector stays fairly quiet even on its most sensitive settings. If things get loud, throw it in advanced mode and set the sensitivity to your personal comfort level. Yes, Honda and GM vehicles will set off the detector just like they did the R3. You have to decide if a little tuning and maybe a little noise is worth the added protection. For me, my driving record is worth the effort. If you are wondering as an R3 owner if you should make the jump, do it. You will love this detector and there is nearly zero learning curve. Everything works how you expect but better. If you are looking at this new to the R1/R3/R7 and can afford it, you will not regret choosing the R7. If you are on a bit of a budget, the R3 is still a great alternative choice. The improved mount system was a welcome addition and the power cord is much higher quality than the one that came with my R3. Uniden hit it out of the park with this complete package and made an answer to radar nerds prayers for extreme detection range combined with threat direction information.

In my opinion, this detector provides the the highest performance and situational awareness while maintaining acceptable levels of false positives (Blind spot monitoring systems) when compared with other detectors in the market.

So far ok, with the exception that the display is totally washed out in bright sunlight.

I own an escort 360C, beltronics GT360, uniden R3 and now the unden R7. I love the R7. So far I've no complaints at all. Yet to go on a multi state road trip and I can't wait.
